Rejected by Phryn. p. 180 Lob. in favor of κυνίδιον) dim. of κύων; a house-dog or lap-dog in contrast to a dog of the street or farm (s. B-D-F §111, 3; Mlt-H. 346f), but also used with no diminutive force at all (Plut., Arat. 7, 3) little dog, dog Mt 15:26f; Mk 7:27f (Eutecnius 1 p. 17, 11f, house-dogs that eat the scraps fr. the τράπεζα; cp.
